Western Red Cedar Siding (L&G, T&G)

We carry several different styles and patterns of Western Red Cedar siding from 8’ to 20’ including Tongue & Groove, Lap & Gap (Channel), and Board & Batt.

Lap & Gap (Channel):

Channel siding is a popular type of lap siding and is used whenever a rustic appearance is desired.  A versatile siding, it can be installed vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.  With channel siding, the profile of each board partially overlaps that of the board next to it creating a channel that gives shadow line effects, provides excellent weather protection, and allows for dimensional movement.  We stock 8” channel which gives 6” of coverage and 10” channel which gives 8” of coverage per board.  The V-Groove is cut on the back side of the board to keep it from cupping away from itself and is not meant to be used as the finished side.

Tongue & Groove:

Western Red Cedar tongue and groove is widely used for its good looks and versatility.  It can be installed horizontally, vertically or diagonally, each method giving a distinctly different look.  Our tongue and groove siding comes with one face smooth and the other rough sawn which allows you to choose the appearance you desire.  Each piece has an approximate coverage of 5 inches.

Board & Batt:

Board and batt siding is very popular vertical application and resembles the look of an old barn.  It is created using boards and battens of various widths for a wide range of appearances.  While there are no set widths for board and batt siding, an attractive combination is 1x3 batts with 1x12 boards.
